Venable LLP Briefing on Cybersecurity Executive Order

The Obama Administration, responding to calls for increasing government oversight of cybersecurity practices of owners and operators of critical infrastructure, issued its long-awaited Cybersecurity Executive Order on February 12, 2013.  Among other things, the Executive Order starts the process of drafting a comprehensive set of cybersecurity standards – the “Cybersecurity Framework” – that will apply to businesses across a series of industries, including energy, telecommunications, defense, financial services, and transportation.

Please join Venable LLP for a briefing on the Cybersecurity Executive Order, how it is likely to affect these and other key sectors of the economy, and what it means for future cybersecurity regulation.  The briefing will include government officials involved in federal cybersecurity initiatives, as well as Venable lawyers who will explain the importance of the Executive Order to the energy, telecommunications, defense, financial services, and transportation industries.
